2 more weeks to Home Sweet Home!

I am going to meet my lecturer tomorrow to discuss about the prac exam.

How i wish he's going to tell me that - sorry, it was a mistake. But, what are the odds?

My family believes in me, my friends believe in me and I believe in my God. I really want to graduate in time.

Today at church, Emma Burgess preached again. I've always loved it when she preached. I love how she conveys and brings the message across so strongly and mind-blowingly yet in such a gentle way. One sentence that struck me was this "When God puts a calling in your heart, He equips and trains you for it.." (or something along those lines..)

I knew that. I knew that all along. I knew what's my calling and i knew it was why i had to go through certain things. But it struck me still. It pulled me back on track.

I know it takes more than an overly-protected happy-go-lucky girl, who is soft-spoken, timid and shy, who gives in easily and dares not say no, to do what i have been called to do. I know all the heartaches, the betrayals, the failures, the mistakes, the battles that i had to fight were training ground for me to toughen me up. I often ask, do i have to go through this too? But everytime i see how my experiences help me get through the now, i praise God for refining me in the fire. After all, i do not want to be a finished product that melts in the fire.

I used to give testimonies about my successes when i was younger. Now, i have testimonies about my failures. But in success or in failure, God battled for me and gave me the victories! All glory to God! =)

Lord, like Moses said, if Your presence does not go with me, send me not from here.

Ting Ting's 6 months old now, she can sit, she can grab, she can sing, she can mumble, and she can hold her bottle! Lovely! And and and she's got one little tooth bursting out of her gums!!!

Thank you Lord that i passed the other 5 subjects and i am pretty satisfied with the results. =)

Without You, i am nothing.

Results

I've passed all my subjects, except one. =( My Pharm Science Practical. =((

Sometimes, life is just so unpredictable. Ok, rephrase, ALOT of the times life is just unpredictable. But it wouldn't be fun if everything goes as expected, would it? =)

Something happened lately, and it was a vindication for me from God, in a way. I was so tempted to take things into my own hands at that time but i bit my teeth and surrendered it to God. Turns out God has a better way of restoring to me what was lost, much better than what i could have ever done. I totally did not expect it to happen this way, never in my dreams. Unpredictable! Phew, glad i left it to Him. And i am looking forward to more! =)

Again, i was quite worried about my prac but i didn't think i would fail. Unpredictable, that's life. I've never failed a year end exam before, not in the past 22 years. =) But, you see, what Rev Kenneth said many many years ago about Job, has stuck with me for ever. He said, God allowed things to happen to Job so that he could overcome his fears. Many things happened to me that could easily have been my worst nightmare, like being late for an exam (that is another story by itself and a very powerful testimony, this diary cum blog will not be complete without a record of that incident, so i'll try to share it next time), losing what i treasure the most, and now failing and having to sit for a supp.

Yet, i would really like to thank my gracious God. Firstly, i got a supp, which means it's not over yet. =) Secondly, the supp is scheduled to be on the morning of 14th Dec, the day i was going to fly home. What i was most worried about when i found out i had to sit for a supp was that i might have to change my airticket and now, that's not a worry anymore. It is just in time. Thirdly, i thank God that He has been good to me all this while and i know He will be with me through this. Lastly, i wanna thank Him that He cares enough to help me overcome my worst fears, making me an overcomer instead of a girl who has many fears.

Honestly, i took it better than i thought i would. Yes, i am sad, i am troubled, i am disappointed, i am discouraged. But surprisingly, my heart is at peace. I know i am safe, i am secure, i can see God's footprints in this and therefore, i know there will not be anything that's gonna happen to me without His permission. All that i have been through has built in me this trust in my gracious Father and my dear saviour. A trust that tells me no matter what happens, He has my best interest in mind. =) I have learnt through books, through others and through the bible that God is good all the time. But i have also learnt from personal experience and i am convinced from deep within that Yes, God is good all the time. All the time. All through this year God has been as faithful to me as ever and there is no one like Him. I know that as long as He is with me, as long as He is in control, i am safe no matter what happens.

It is my own fault most of the time, but God turns ugly situations into a masterpiece, giving every situation a purpose, not wasting any experience in my life and making things happen for my good. How wonderful is my God, how big yet so near to us little ones, making our own worries His own. My God cares!

One more thing i want to thank God for, is friends. Every one of my friends have been so supportive and encouraging when they found out i had to sit for a supp. Maria even gave me a purple shiny thingy that looks like a christmas tree, put in a box that says on top "When you come to the end of the rope, tie a knot and hang on!" I am seriously touched. I thank God that in every trough, every valley, He lets me see what matters the most, what will remain forever, what is worth cherishing. Ting and Val just came for dinner and we had some seriously crazy times! After the incident last year, i realised that neither marks nor much of the knowledge will stay with me through the years, it'll be the lessons learnt, the times spent together and the memories.

I love You, I will follow You and I am so glad You're here. =)

Time flies..

Time flies when you're not counting down, don't you think so? ;)

It's one more day to Results Day {bites teeth, clamps fist, jumps up and down}

It's 19 days to home!!!! Now i'm wondering if i have enough time to finish what i want to finish before i go home, hehe..

It's only one more year til graduation. Now, this is a very bold statement considering the fact that the results that determine whether i can graduate on time next year, only comes out this Friday.

Lord, i know i can't do this, but i also know that i did not come this far by myself.

Continue to show me Your faithfulness would You, and bring me through this last phase of my course.

It's been 4 years since i left high school. It's been 3 years living in beautiful Tassie. It's almost 2 years now since i turned 21. And it's been 1 year since i last felt the heat, the humidity, and the warm breeze of my hometown, Kota Kinabalu.

Home, HERE I COME! I'm really hoping and praying that it'd be good news that i'm bringing home.. news that say I'll graduate end of next year, you can book your tickets now to come for my graduation everyone! =)

Hey, guess what, i was 12 years old few years back, now i'm 13. Or so says the people who's met me for the first time. Wonder what's my secret to looking young? I'm not too sure whether it's something to be proud of now but at least, when i grow old, i can be like mum, always boasting of how people thinks she's our sister, or her mum's granddaughter.

For all those around me who are going through tough times this very moment, i pray for God's strength to carry you through, His grace to sustain you, His love to fill you, His peace, His wisdom and His joy to overflow in your worlds.

I met up with Liz yesterday, she's like the only australian friend that i have. A true friend i mean, not just hi and bye kind of friend. She's been away but now she's back for good and it was a good chat. So much has happened and yet we can say now that God is good and He has been faithful through it all. We went horse-riding together 2 years ago. Wow, see what i mean, i really think time has wings. Late last night, i talked for hours with Anjo who's just came back here to pack her things to leave Melbourne. Again, i realised so much has happened in the lives of others this past year. She says, "Go home and see for yourself.." YES, good or bad, i can't wait! =)

Woke up unusually early today, so i turned on my computer and surfed the net. Stan Walker from Gold Coast, originally from New Zealand, has won AUSTRALIAN IDOL! Yay! I didn't think he would win but i liked him, i liked his style, i liked the fact that he came from a broken background and now striving to be a star. I liked how he pouches his lips and smiles, although Jiena hates it. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that he's actually a believer, and he openly shares how he was saved by his saviour and how Jesus redeemed his life. Apparently, a few of the Australian Idols are Christians like Guy Sebastian. I can only say, just like how He places stars in the skies and names them one by one, He makes us stars on earth, knowing each and everyone of us by name.

Cracked my head on what to do for Val to compensate for not being around on her birthday, i think i have a brief idea now, hope it turns out nice. Did gardening today, and took lots of pics! One little purple flower has bloomed, yayz! Went to buy groceries and then played mahjong and card games til 1am. HEHE!

That's what i love about holidays, no time restrictions! It's been almost 3 weeks now since my holidays started but i thank God that i've been quite busy and occupied so far and i'm enjoying it to bits!

Lord, I praise You for your faithfulness and goodness to me!! I'll sing of Your goodness to me, all the days of my life!

09.11.09

Finished my last paper and went home to pack.

Lazed around the house, chatted, talked and laughed loudly in the frontyard and waited for time to pass.

About 2.30pm, Val came to pick us up and sent us to the airport.

Arrived at Adelaide, took the cab because the last Skylink Shuttle Bus has just left and the next one won't arrive till 50 minutes later. The cab ride was relatively cheap compared to the Airporter in Hobart..

It was terribly hot and sunny, a big change of weather for us Hobartians. Thankfully Hobart itself was quite hot that day.

We arrived at the RECEPTION of our accommodation and checked in. Little did we know that the place where we were actually gonna stay in was about 30 minutes walk away, to say a few miles away would be an understatement if you know what i mean. With all the luggage that we had to carry, plus an 11kg tent, and in that weather, under the scorching sun, i felt like we walked for 2 if not 3 days.. (okay, i am exaggerating a lil here..)

When we finally arrived it was time for dinner so we walked back a few streets to look for a place to sit and fill our growling stomachs. We finally settled at an asian restaurant. It was okay but it was like the worse out of all the meals we had in Adelaide. Nevertheless we had a good time getting to know more about each other especially the 2 other girls.

We had ice cream later on, which was quite yummy, and we bought a bottle of sparkling juice to celebrate the end of exams. The night ended with mahjong and cos i was assigned to sleep with Jiena, we talked much that night, for about an hour or so? About life, after life, before life, and all other bits and pieces.

me, tian qing, joyce, jiena, qi ying

Cheers!

An ongoing lesson

To wait..

Do i, do i not?

Am i, am i not?

In my imaginations, i do and i am.

But when reality strikes, i doubt. I see flaws, i see weaknesses, i see what i do not see in my imaginations.

Why does reality always have to dampen my imaginations? Or maybe it's time i stop imagining.

To dream or not to dream..

When will reality meet with my imaginations, when will everything fall into place..?

"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently before Him.." - Psalm 37:7

Of cheesecakes and cheesy friends

Just to make sure i got the meaning right, (actually i don't really mean anything, i just wanted something that would sound like the 'cheese' in 'cheesecake'), so i looked up the meaning of 'cheesy'.

According to the Urban Dictionary,
This is an important word and nobody has it right yet. What it means is: Trying too hard, unsubtle, inauthentic.

According to Wikipedia,
It refers to something of poor quality.

Whoops, i am glad i looked it up, cos it is totally the opposite description for this two totally exquisite friends. They are definitely authentic in their own way, and they are never trying too hard to be outstanding. They only try too hard when it comes to imitating me..

The first un-cheesy friend is again Ms Maria who made a lovely cake with me today. She decorated it nicely but unfortunately we do not have the photos with us now. Yes, the day went well as we have planned, except that i woke up a quarter PAST eight, we were at uni for only 3 hours and we did NOT get to see either of our supervisors. The rest of the day was fantabulously fun! Oh and to quote her (or her friend), we will be going to sankala-manca tomorrow, what a funny word.

The second un-cheesy friend is also no one unfamiliar, she is none other than Ms Har Wai Yan. Happy birthday to you my dear friend. I have nothing more to say to you or about you. That gives us some motivation to meet up again soon to create more memories. =)

I just want to say thank you for the friendship you have offered and for the efforts you have made to keep it going. I thank God for you and for this friendship and i pray that it will continue to be a source of encouragement and nourishment for the rest of our lives. I am glad we are bestest friends, that means my 2 rows of teeth will be well taken care of when i'm old. But then again, u will be equally old by then, i won't want your shaky hands fiddling around with my teeth. Just kidding! :p

HAPPY BIRTHDAY again to you friend. Can't wait to meet you and talk about everything under the sun moon and stars again. Till then, ♥ you lots!

I am terribly guilty but i can't help it, i am going to look for Ron Ng Cheuk Hai now. See yaz! =)

Quick Update

Just to keep my diary going without being stuck at 9th-16th Nov..

Went for dinner with Wonder Five on Tuesday night, followed by ice cream and movies.. It was a good night of just catching up and keeping in touch..

Jiena left for Sydney on Wednesday night. I went to church to help pack for Christmas @ the Odeon's kids gift pack and later on had ID where we watched INDESCRIBABLE by Louie Giglio and it was mind blowing, my God is sooooooo BIG!

Today, i woke up to Ting Ting's gigglings and just couldn't resist playing with her. She pushed her red tomato-sauce-bottle-cum-musical-instrument down and i picked it up again, then she pushed it down again, then i picked it up again.. over and over again we did it but altho it seems boring, it was so fun! Such joy i felt to see her grow up, to see how she learn to grab things, tear paper, rollover, do things she never was able to do.. it just feels so.. awesome.. although she's not even my baby...

Joyce said, "I'm sure next time before u have your baby, you would have decorated a room for him/her, prepare cute things, do this do that.." and i said, "How did you know?" hehe.. well, at least that's what i think i'd do..

Ok, back to what-i-did-today, i went to A-ONE supermarket with Maria and her friends, bought some fruits and veggies and dad called. Hehe, i have been missing in action and not logging on to MSN lately. I hope i didn't worry you too much dad, i was just too engrossed in enjoying my holidays :p Sorry daddy!

Later on we had steamboat for dinner, YUM! Although we always have steamboat here in Hobart, it has been quite a while since the last time i had one. After dinner, we went fishing at Margate and guess what, i caught a flathead! I was pretty satisfied with the catch and i gave the rod to someone else, moving on to the highlight of the day - secret-trading by the jetty, under the moonlight with Ms Maria Natalie Wong. I even gave her a money-back guarantee that the secret is worth the trade.. ;p

Well, that's all for now. We're going jogging at pukul lapan tomorrow, hopefully followed by breakfast, honours and making oreo cheesecake.. yays! I ♥ holidays!

I finally got Emergency Unit and Burning Flame 3 from Maria. Now i've got at least 3 dramas to watch, not mentioning the rest i got from Anjo. So, byeeeee i'm off to watch my dramas, TVB style! ;p

Good nite!

Back from the wilderness

Yes, i am back from Alice Springs!

I was back few days ago but somehow, i didn't have the time, the urge, the motivation to blog and i am guessing it's cos i am freeeeeee!! WEEE~!

I am no more bound by books, neither held down to the study table nor restricted to the vicinity of my own bedroom. i am free, i can go anywhere, do anything i want for as long as i like.. YAY!

I will still blog about my exciting trip to Alice Springs, from meteors to insect bites, from sightseeing to climbing the Kings Canyon, from Uluru to Kata Tjuta, from Alice Springs to Adelaide, from the salty water to the beautiful blue skies, from dingos to our swerving tent, from quest to mantra, aurion to camry.. all about my 7-day-outback-breakaway!

But i think i'll leave it til next time, cos i feel like drama now, TVB style.. :D

Good nite!

Reminiscence

I was looking for someone's address in the little plastic bag where i keep all the cards i received from others and wow, so much memories, so much love showered upon me, so much tears i shed, so much laughter i've had, so much warmth, so much joy, so much pain, so much that i have gained.

Quite a few of them were from the time i left home to come to Tasmania. And unbelievably, it has been 3 years now.

My bestest friend said many things to me when i left,

"Friendship that flows from the heart cannot be frozen by adversity, as the water that flows from the spring cannot congeal in winter"

"Miracles happen all around everyday, often we just routinely overlook them in the moment.."

"Everyone hears what you say, friends listen to what you share, best friends listen to what you don't say.."

I felt so touched, seriously, until i saw this...

".....one thing i will never forget is the blessed mole on your face..."

Coming from her, haha! I never really remembered it, maybe when i was reading it on the plane with tears rolling uncontrollably down my cheeks and blurring my vision, i thought she meant blessed smile..

A few months after i left home, another dear friend and sister who has taught and loved me much wrote in a card..

"Watch your weight ya, nanti have to fast long long time to kurus again, haha.."

Hehe, i am just so blessed to have you all.

Thanks everyone, i'm glad you gave me cards that i could keep and look back on.

2 more sleeps and i am freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!

One more, one more..

I know there are many more words that start with D like what has been suggested, dementia, detox, delirium, delicious, delightful, disgusting, deceitful, disgraceful, et cetera et cetera et cetera (anna and the king)...

But, my collection of D words will certainly not be complete without my favourite, DESSERT!

By this time tomorrow, i'll be left with only Chemo! WOOO HOOOOO~!

I am now having dinner which is kuey tiao soup with tomatoes, mushroom, roast chicken from woolies and the highlight of the meal, our very own home-grown baby bakchoy!!!!

Cool lehhhh... ;p

It tastes 100X better than bakchoy bought from the supermarket, it's soft and tender, crunchy and sweet.. yummmyyy~!

Okie, better get back to work! Tataz!

Be of good cheer!

I'm ending the chain of d-words now, cos i think the words are getting more and more depressing demoralising and discouraging.. haha, still not giving up!

Guess i got it from mum. She likes to play with words and make rhymes. And mum and che, they love playing scrabble. I am the least of a fan between us.

I did not turn my computer on at all today, until after our discussing. BRAVO! What an achievement! =)

Alice Springs trip is 4 sleeps away and i have not even packed yet! The excitement is still not starting to brew just yet but i can feel it coming. Halt right there now, excitement, i don't want you to distract me now.

I have not packed yet, my luggage is still tucked right up there in my cupboard, i have not thought about what to bring yet, i have not bought my colgate yet, i have not swap with someone for tea and coffee yet, i have not thought about what to do for Val yet... Ahhhhhh!

Nyways, we were writing down praise points at ID yesterday. One most important thing i would like to praise God for is friends. To the famous wonder five, I thank God for the support, fun and lovely times we shared this year. To my connect group friends, i thank God that i could be part of this family and what a blessing it is to do life together.

I praise God also that He has been good to me thru thick and thin, high and low. I had one very distinct period of lowness this year and He has been so faithful to me. Che's coming here is a praise point i couldn't thank God enough for and certainly, through all the sorrow and pain, i found many treasures.

All in all, thank You Jesus. I am blessed, You are more than i deserve.

1 more day to therapeutics, 2 more days to church..
3 more days to Chemotherapy, 4 more days to freedom..
5 more days to Alice Springs, 6 more weeks to HOME!
7 more weeks to Christmas, 8 more years to 30,
9 more weeks to year end, 10 more minutes to 1.30am!

Good nite!

Disappointed

Haiz, should have just slept as much as i like and as much as i want to. :|

Mr L, just go be a model (a compliment), why be our lecturer!?!

Anyway, thank you that i could still squeeze out some answers for most of the questions, just GIVE ME THE MARKS!

Forgive me for being rude, i'm very sleep deprived.

Lord, carry me!

Weeding was good, it was de-stressing and therapeutic. I hope my flowers bloom before i leave for home.

2 more to go, phew!

HELP ME, HELP ME, HELP ME!

Do you remember any poems from english literature back then at high school? Like, death in the opposite house, mcbeth, the road not taken, etc etc... There is one that i especially like, it's called 'IF'. I was amused by it as i hear my teacher explain the poem line by line. Yeah, i was a very good student until i became part of Wonder Five. Such wisdom, although i'm not sure if any or all should be taken on board..

Here's to 'IF'.. by Rudyard Kipling

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I certainly don't wanna be a man, but how inspiring!

Despise

I despise my imagination, some times..

They take me too far away from reality, too close to paradise for life to match up..

But is it possible, Lord? Is it not?

I admit, I am a control-freak, maybe not an extreme one, but then again who isn't a control-freak!? =p I get freaked out when things are not going the way i want them to go, when things are a bit out of control, a bit awry or just slightly different from my expectations. But who says, they can't turn out good anyway? =)

I am also very impatient. I want good things to happen now. Like, nowwwwww! And this is e-xa-cer-ba-ted (too much therapeutics and residency) by my wild imaginations. First i imagine too much and then i have to wait. Ah, i've come to learn that the thing i hate most to do is waiting. Not as in waiting for someone to arrive or waiting for exams results but waiting for what i want.

Lord, thru all these that you've brought me thru, why have i not learned to give you full control? Why haven't i surrendered? No wonder i'm stuck with this lesson. Teach me Lord, help me, to yield over the steering wheel to you and remember which beautiful places you brought me to when i surrendered.

Help me to learn also the pleasures of waiting, waiting upon You, waiting for You to fulfill Your beautiful promises. Help me to have full confidence in Your guidance, Your ways, Your love.

"I have set the Lord always before me, because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."
Psalms 16:8

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
Romans 8:25

And again to quote Catherine san, or someone we know =), "Good things must wait.."

Guess i'm just a bit emo today haha! See what exams do to sanity!

I'll hold on to..

Hmm, maybe despise is one word too strong for my title but.. just to keep the d-flow, if you haven't realised..;p

God bless!

Diminished

To quote Maria, "我很乱啊...!"

Dad's back!

Deflated

Need sleep.

Need more time.

Need You.

Delighted

I had fun dancing at church today. =)

Holding Nothing back by Tim Hughes (parts of the song)

And nothing's gonna hold me back
Nothing's gonna hold me back
Nothing's gonna hold me back

My chains fell off
My heart was free
I'm alive to live for you
I'm alive to live for you
Amazing Love, how can it be?
You gave everything for me
You gave everything for me
Everything

I'm free to live
Free to give
Free to be
I'm free to love you
