Remember Lot's wife

According to Ps Kong Hee, that verse in Luke 17: 32 is the 2nd shortest verse in the bible. The first being, "Jesus wept." i presume.

I was listening to Ps Kong Hee's sermon about 'Not Looking Back'. The 4 things he asked us not to look back to are:

1) Past sins
2) Past failures/defeats
3) Past hurts
4) Past victories

With Past Sins, he said that God forgives AND forgets, so we don't have to keep telling ourselves how sinful we are. He washes away our sins and takes off our labels that say 'sinner' or 'liar' or 'adulterer' or 'slanderer', etc.

With Past failures, he said that no great man hasn't met with failures. And success comes not to the person who never fails but to the one who never quits. Don't brood over past failures, learn from it and move on.

With Past Hurts, he quoted someone else and said something like this, don't nurture and feed your hurts, reciting it over and over again in your mind, cursing and hating what has happened. Instead, release it to God and let Him do the rest.

About Past victories, Ps Kong Hee said we should not dwell on our past victories and become proud. Conceited, in my own words. We should always acknowledge that our victories come from God and humbly learn from others.

The angels told Lot to bring his family, run away and not look back. Lot's wife looked back and instantaneously became a pillar of salt.

Remember Lot's wife. I should stop looking back. I have no reason to look back anyway..

I think God has something to tell me about forgiveness too because you see, after i listened to the sermon about not looking back, i listened to one about forgiveness. Today at church, Mark also shared on forgiveness during communion. And to add to that, Jonathan who was assigned to share his devotion every sunday (mine being tuesdays), also shared on forgiveness. Hmm, are you telling me something God?

Who is it you want me to forgive? Is it my nasty neighbours? or my cheeky coursemates? ;p just kidding!
